Take a deep breath. Go ahead, a real one. The kind that expands your chest and reminds you that you are here, you are alive, and you are worthy of peace.
If you’ve found your way to this corner of the internet, chances are your soul is feeling a little bit heavy. Maybe it’s a quiet ache that’s been there for years, or perhaps it’s a loud, crashing storm that you’re just trying to navigate one wave at a time. Whatever it is, I want you to know something right out of the gate: You are not alone.
At Her Story: The Gathering Inc., we believe that healing isn’t just about fixing what’s broken; it’s about reclaiming what was stolen. It’s about the raw, unflinching journey of taking back your narrative. Your soul is the seat of your emotions, your will, and your mind. When trauma hits, the soul is often the first thing to go into hiding. But today, we’re talking about coming out of the shadows. We’re talking about soul-restoration.
The Sacred Art of Letting Go
Healing for the soul often starts with a very difficult, very messy process: letting go. We carry around so much "stuff", guilt, shame, the weight of other people’s opinions, and the heavy chains of what happened to us.
Imagine your soul like a beautiful garden that’s been neglected. There are weeds, sure, but there’s also rich soil underneath. Healing is the work of pulling those weeds so the flowers God planted can finally see the sun. One of the biggest "weeds" we deal with is unforgiveness. Now, before you roll your eyes, because we’ve all heard the "just forgive" speech, let’s talk about what it actually is.
Forgiveness isn't saying that what happened was okay. It’s not letting someone off the hook for their bad behavior. It’s actually an act of radical self-care. It’s saying, "I refuse to let your actions continue to poison my internal well." When we forgive, we aren’t just releasing the other person; we are unlocking the door to our own prison cell.

10 Rhythms for a Restored Soul
Healing is a journey, not a destination. It’s a series of small, intentional choices we make every single day. Drawing inspiration from some of the most powerful spiritual teachers and survivors who have walked this path before us, here are some rhythms to help you find your way back to yourself:
Embrace the Unconditional: You are loved. Period. Not because of what you’ve done or how well you’ve "recovered," but because of who you are. Accepting this love is the foundation of everything else.
Ditch the Condemnation: We are often our own harshest critics. Stop holding yourself to a standard of perfection that doesn’t exist. Grace is for you, too.
Release Self-Pity for Gratitude: This isn’t about toxic positivity. It’s about finding one tiny, beautiful thing to hold onto when everything feels dark. It shifts the atmosphere of your heart.
Own Your Response: We can’t control what happened to us, but we can eventually control how we respond to the healing process. Take back your power.
Stop Making Excuses for the Pain: It’s okay to say, "This hurts." But don't let the hurt become your permanent home.
Use Your Words as Medicine: What are you saying to yourself? Speak life. Speak hope. Read things that nourish you.
Be Patient with the Process: Healing takes time. You didn’t get hurt in a day, and you won’t be "healed" in a day. Patience is a form of faith.
Follow the Still, Small Voice: Listen to your intuition. Listen to the Holy Spirit. You have a guide within you that knows the way.
Serve Someone Else: Sometimes the best way to heal our own heart is to pour into someone else’s. It reminds us that we still have something valuable to give.
Tell Your Story: There is power in the telling. When you speak your truth, the shame loses its grip.
The Power of the Gathering
You were never meant to carry the weight of your history by yourself. Loneliness is a byproduct of trauma, but community is the antidote. That’s why we call ourselves a "Gathering."
In our community, we focus on the stories God is still writing. We see the breakthroughs and the battles. We recognize that while your past might be heartbreaking, your future is redemptive. When women come together, women of all races, backgrounds, and experiences, something supernatural happens. The "me" becomes "us," and the burden suddenly feels a little lighter.
If you’re looking for a place to start sharing that journey, or if you just need to be around women who get it, check out our About page to see what we’re all about.

Music: The Language of the Soul
Have you ever heard a song that felt like it was written just for your secret pain? Music has a way of bypassing our logical brains and going straight to the heart. Whether it’s the soaring notes of a gospel choir or a quiet instrumental melody, music can be a form of prayer when you don’t have the words.
If you’re feeling stuck, I encourage you to find your "healing soundtrack." Put on something that reminds you of your strength. Let the lyrics wash over you and remind you that restoration is possible. Sometimes, we just need to let the music do the heavy lifting for a while.
Reclaiming Your Identity
For many of us, trauma tried to tell us who we are. It whispered lies about our worth, our beauty, and our future. But those are just that, lies.
Healing for your soul means stripping away those false labels and reclaiming your true identity. You are a survivor. You are a woman of courage. You are a daughter of the Most High. You are a work in progress, and that is a beautiful thing to be.
If you feel like you've lost your voice in the noise of everything you've been through, we want to help you find it again. Our mission is built on the belief that storytelling is a form of medicine. When you're ready to take that step, we have resources designed specifically for your growth. Walking Toward the Light
As we wrap up this conversation today, I want to leave you with one thought: The sun is going to rise again.
The night might have been long, and the shadows might have felt permanent, but the light is always stronger. Healing isn’t a straight line; it’s a winding path with peaks and valleys. Some days you’ll feel like you’re soaring, and other days you’ll feel like you’re crawling. Both days count. Both days are part of your victory.

Your soul is precious. It is the core of who you are, and it deserves to be tended to with the utmost gentleness. Be kind to yourself today. Drink some water, step outside, and remember that your story matters.
