I Still Have Today

There is a weight that comes with "yesterday." For many of us, yesterday isn't just a mark on a calendar; it is a heavy cloak woven from threads of trauma, loss, and the quiet battles we fought when no one was watching. We wake up, and before our feet even hit the floor, the echoes of what was taken: our peace, our voice, our sense of safety: start to whisper.

But I want you to take a breath with me right now. Deep. intentional. Raw.

Do you feel that? That breath is the evidence of a profound truth that trauma tries to make us forget: You still have today.

At Her Story: The Gathering, we believe that your story isn't a finished book. It’s a living, breathing narrative that God is still writing. While yesterday may have been filled with heartbreaking chapters, today is a blank page, a safe sanctuary, and a fresh opportunity to reclaim what was stolen. You don't need a whole lifetime to start your recovery. You just need this moment.

The Raw Honesty of the "Yesterday"

We cannot talk about the light without acknowledging the darkness we’ve walked through. For survivors, the past often feels like an uninvited guest that refuses to leave. Trauma has a way of pulling us backward into the unflinching memories of what happened, or catapulting us forward into a future filled with hypervigilance and "what-ifs."

It’s exhausting to live everywhere but here.

Your nervous system might be stuck in a cycle of "battle," waiting for the next blow. Your heart might be weary from the breakthroughs and battles that seem to come in equal measure. We want you to know: We see you. We understand the courage it takes just to open your eyes when the weight of the past feels like lead.

But here is the redemptive truth: yesterday does not own your "now."

Trauma may have written the previous chapters, but it does not hold the pen today. In our women's healing community, we emphasize that while the pain was real, the survival is even more real. You are not a victim of your past; you are a survivor who is learning to walk in a new strength: an unshakable faith that says, "I am still here."

The Power of a Single Day

We often think that healing is a destination: a far-off mountain peak we’ll only reach after years of grueling climbing. But what if healing is actually found in the valley? What if it’s found in the simple, quiet decision to be present today?

In the world of trauma healing support, we talk a lot about "grounding." Grounding is simply the act of reminding your body and your soul that you are safe right now. It is the practice of saying, "That was then; this is now."

Healing begins in the present.

When you focus on today, you reclaim your agency. You decide how you will nourish your body. You decide whose voices you will allow into your space. You decide to believe that your story matters. This isn't about ignoring the past; it’s about refusing to let the past consume the gift of the present.

Every morning is a reminder of God's mercy: a fresh start that hasn't been touched by the mistakes or the hurts of yesterday. It is a blessing and a lesson wrapped into twenty-four hours of possibility.

Finding Your Safe Space

Healing is rarely a solo journey. In fact, trauma often thrives in isolation, making us believe that we are the only ones carrying these burdens. That is why safe spaces for women healing are so vital.

When we gather, something miraculous happens. The shame that kept us silent begins to melt away in the warmth of shared experience. When one woman says, "I still have today," and another responds, "Me too," the burden becomes lighter.

At Her Story: The Gathering, we provide a soft place to land. Whether you are listening to our podcast and videos or joining us for a session, you are entering a community where:

  • Voices are honored.

  • Truth is spoken.

  • Healing begins.

We don't ask you to be "fixed." We ask you to be present. We invite you to bring your raw, honest self into a room full of sisters who are also navigating their own redemptive journeys.

Reclaiming Your Breath, Reclaiming Your Life

So, how do we practically "have today" when the shadows of yesterday feel long?

  1. Acknowledge the Pain, then Pivot to Purpose: It’s okay to say, "Yesterday was hard." But don't stop there. Follow it with, "But today, I am choosing peace."

  2. Practice Dual Awareness: When a trigger pulls you back, use your senses to anchor yourself. What do you see? What do you hear? Remind your heart: I am safe right now.

  3. Small Victories Matter: Sometimes "having today" just means getting out of bed or drinking a glass of water. These are not small things; they are acts of defiance against the trauma that tried to steal your vitality.

  4. Connect with the Sisterhood: Don't carry the weight alone. Reach out to a community that understands the nuances of survival.

You are not alone.

Your journey is a testament to resilience. Every day you choose to stay, to breathe, and to hope is a victory that echoes in the heavens. We are here to walk beside you, reminding you that the unshakable faith within you is stronger than any storm you've weathered.

A Lifeline for Your Journey

Think of today as a lifeline. It is the tool you need to transform your pain into purpose. You don't have to figure out next month or next year. You just have to navigate the next few hours with grace for yourself.

As you move through these hours, remember that Her Story: The Gathering was built for you. It was built from the perspective of a survivor who knows that the road is long, but the company is good. We are committed to helping you reclaim what trauma tried to steal: one day at a time.

Your Story is Still Being Written

If you are reading this, it means the story isn't over. The chapters of "yesterday" might be filled with things you wish you could erase, but the page of "today" is crisp and clean.

What will you write on it? Perhaps you'll write "I am safe." Perhaps you'll write "I am loved." Perhaps you'll simply write "I am here."

Whatever it is, know that your sisters are cheering you on. We are rising together, reclaiming our lives, and breaking the chains of the past.

Healing is possible.Your story matters. And most importantly: you still have today.

Thank you for being a part of this community. Thank you for your courage. Let's walk into the rest of this day together, with our heads held high and our hearts open to the beauty that is still to come.

Rise. Reclaim. Begin.

We are non-profit organization

Our mission is simple: to create safe, empowering spaces where women and children can breathe, be seen, share their stories, and heal. Through initiatives like The Strength Circle, we provide a supportive community for women navigating healing and restoration, while our SEE MEE Anti-Bully Movement empowers children to lead with empathy, kindness, and courage. At Her Story, we believe every story reflects strength, survival, and purpose—not weakness. Together, we are building a community where no woman or child has to walk their journey alone.
