Pull up a chair, grab a warm cup of tea, and breathe. If you’ve found your way here, know this: you are in a safe sanctuary. At Her Story: The Gathering Inc., we believe that every woman carries a narrative worth telling, and today, we’re going to talk about a story we all think we know, but with a twist that might just change the way you look in the mirror.
We’ve all heard the tale of Beauty and the Beast. We think of the yellow dress, the rose under glass, and the eventual transformation. But if we peel back the layers of the fairy tale, we find a much deeper, more visceral mirror of our own lives. In our journey of healing, "Beauty" isn't about a pretty face or a perfect life. Beauty is the best of the human spirit, the resilient, unshakable, and divine spark within you that refuses to be extinguished.
And "The Beast"? The Beast isn’t a misunderstood prince. The Beast is everything that tries to hinder you from moving forward. It is the trauma that wakes you up at 3:00 AM, the fear that whispers you aren't enough, and the obstacles that feel like heavy iron gates between you and your purpose.
Today, we are talking about how to face the beast, reclaim your agency, and realize that the beauty within you is far more powerful than the monsters behind you.
Identifying Your Beast: The Weight of What Hinders Us
Before we can move forward, we have to be raw and unflinching about what is holding us back. For many of us in this women’s healing community, the beast takes the form of past trauma. It might be a childhood experience, a toxic relationship, or a season of loss that left you feeling fractured.
The beast wants to keep you in the dark. It thrives on silence and isolation. It tells you that if people really knew your story, they would turn away. It creates a sense of "stuckness", that feeling where you want to grow, you want to launch that business, or you want to find love again, but there’s a growl in the shadows of your mind reminding you of your scars.
But here is the truth: The beast is not who you are. It is something you have encountered. It is a hindrance, yes, but it is not your identity. Healing begins when we stop identifying as the victim of the beast and start identifying as the woman who survived it.

Reclaiming Agency: Choosing Your Own Path
In the traditional research of this story, Beauty’s journey is one of reclaiming agency. She starts in a place of sacrifice, giving herself up to save her father, but she ends in a place of self-determination. She realizes that she has the power to set boundaries, to say "no" to the Beast’s demands, and ultimately, to choose her own loyalty based on her own values.
For you, reclaiming agency might look like finally filling out an intake form to seek support. It might look like deciding that the "beast" of your past no longer gets to dictate your future.
When we talk about healing from trauma storytelling, we are talking about taking the pen back. For too long, the beast has been writing the chapters of your life. It wrote chapters titled Insecurity, Shame, and Stagnation. But you are the author now. God is still writing your story, and He specializes in redemptive endings. You have the autonomy to decide that while the beast may have been part of your history, it will not be the architect of your destiny.
The Power of the Gathering: Why You Need a Village
Let’s be real: facing the beast alone is terrifying. In the fairy tale, Beauty was isolated in a castle. Many of us feel that same isolation. We go to work, we take care of our families, and we put on a "brave face," but inside, we are fighting a battle no one else can see.
This is why a trauma healing support group for women is so vital. At Her Story: The Gathering Inc., we provide the village. We believe that there is a unique, holy strength that happens when women sit in a circle and share their truths.
When you hear another woman describe her "beast" and how she’s learning to tame it, something shifts in your spirit. You realize: If she can survive that, maybe I can survive this. Your story becomes a lifeline for her, and her story becomes a roadmap for you. We move from "I can’t do this" to "We are doing this together."
Healing isn't a solo sport. It’s a collective journey. Whether it’s through our podcast or our community events, we are here to remind you that your voice is honored and your truth is spoken here.

Integrating the Self: Making Peace with the Shadows
From a Jungian perspective, the "Beast" is often seen as our "inner other": the parts of ourselves we’ve tried to hide or reject because they feel messy or "wild."
Reclaiming your story doesn't mean pretending the trauma never happened. It doesn't mean deleting the chapters where you were hurt. True wholeness comes from integration. It’s about looking at your scars and saying, "This happened, and it was hard, but it gave me a strength I wouldn't have had otherwise."
When Beauty finally accepts the Beast, he transforms. In our lives, when we stop running from our past and start bringing it into the light of a supportive community, the "beast" of our trauma loses its power to terrify us. It transforms from a monster into a lesson. It becomes the catalyst for your empowerment.
The Best of the Human Spirit: Choosing Beauty
The "Beauty" in you is the part that still dares to hope. It’s the part of you that wants to give back, to lead, and to love. It’s the version of you that God intended before the world tried to break you.
That version of you is still there. She’s just waiting for you to give her permission to come out.
Choosing "Beauty" means:
Choosing faith over fear.
Choosing to invest in your wellness.
Choosing to be part of something bigger than yourself.
Choosing to believe that your best days are not behind you.

Taking the Next Step
So, how do we move forward when the beast is growling? We take one small, courageous step at a time.
Maybe for you, that step is joining us at The Gathering. Maybe it’s sharing your journey by becoming a podcast guest to help other women find their way. Or maybe it’s simply acknowledging today that you have been hindered for too long and you are ready for a breakthrough.
We want to walk with you. We want to hear your story: the raw, the unedited, and the redemptive parts. You don't have to have it all figured out to be a part of this sisterhood. You just have to be willing to show up.
Your Story Matters
Your life is not a tragedy; it is a masterpiece in progress. The hindrances you face today: the beasts of fear and trauma: are just the tension in the plot before the great triumph.
You are intelligent, you are decisive, and you are not alone. Let’s stop letting the beast define the boundaries of our lives. Let’s reclaim our stories, embrace our inner beauty, and move forward into the light together.
Healing is possible. Your story matters. And your sisterhood is waiting.
